so build it!  There are 3rd party hardware companies that integrate with control4.  Everything doesn't have to be first party.  They have API's, they have partners.  Do it!  Be a commercial success!

Actually the reason I didn't reply faster is because I was driving to work, eating breakfast and in my morning routine not bcusae I don't have an answer.
NYCE and Card Access have both built remotes, not remotes like you are talking but still it illustrates the point that 3rd parties can make hardware for Control4.  AXXES is another 3rd party zigbee integration.
Any my idea of built it yourself isn't a wise crack.  I have started 3 businesses and have another full time job.  I believe in innovation and startups.  I wouldn't have started 3 different companies if I didn't think I could fill a gap.  One company has 5 employees now and in it's first year of business has nice revenue and growth and has raised angel funding that is pretty impressive.  Not gloating but just saying, I FIRMLY believe in the American Dream - work hard and build something

I have successfully integrated with eventghost on a few occasions. Yes, most of the setup time is on the PC side. EG is not user friendly.
I would do it for my own home, but probably not for a customer again.
However, like everyone else, i have no need for an HTPC anymore.

I'm guessing making a generic Windows driver would not only not make money, it would likely be a support nightmare.
Typically Control4 makes drivers for devices that have well-defined protocols.
Windows is not such a device.
If it was a huge money-maker and had a large demand, a 3rd-party would have made a for-cost driver for it.
<sarcasm_mode>It's probably got something to do with the HDMI cabal causing it to not happen, because that would somehow break their model.</sarcasm_mode>

The customers don't want it. before you jump down my throat you and the members this form do not represent 99 percent of control4 customers. people don't have Htpcs in their houses they buy streaming devices and they're done with it

The hardest part, if I remember correctly (it was like 7 years ago, I used the HTTP get functions of an IP camera to make it work at the time...), was creating the configuration file for EventGhost.  You did most of the mapping there.
If I remember correctly, I just named my commands in the config file the same as room commands, then the Control4 driver just sent the room command names.

Took some time to be able to go back on site and I finally manager to get there and try what Cyknight suggested, and I confirm it work, I can now manage my system locally without Internet connection. Thanks!
C4, with Crestron, are two of the few control systems that does not rely on a cloud service to run, which is a GOOD thing! I really hope this will stay as is.

Eh, I’m not sure I agree exactly.
Having a non-dimmable ballast on a dimmmer, even just going 0%-100% could definitely speed wear on the dimmer. Or likely the ballasts themselves. Especially an older dimmer, as I’m not sure how well they handle the inrush currents.
That said, depending on use and the quality of ballasts, could work fine for years. I just wouldn’t be so keen to shrug it off with the price of a dimmer being what it is.

Ari did a great job jumping in on my already existing project. Adding new items, upgrading to current os and then giving advice on changing things around. System now upgraded and running great!

    thanks Ari!

You would lose that bet if you change the text to 'a lot of C4 users after a few months'. You'd be surprised how quickly people 'forget' that habit. And this will be true ten times over for younger generations. My kids have no idea what 'point the remote' means. REALLY they don't.

Which we have seen at least a couple of times that I can think of. Sure it's nice while they work, until they don't work... then you're stuck.
I am constantly trying new drivers and devices in my system to stay on top of things. My system is solid and IP drivers don't just "stop" working. I don't know what kind of networks people have out there that have had such poor luck with IP control. But to me, that's a poor network design or implementation that is causing the issues, and needs to be addressed. DO IP drivers solve every problem? No. Is it nice when an IP driver is available over IR or Serial? Sure.
I'm not seeing the huge draw for control of game consoles, either. Maybe for DVD/Blu-ray control but that's it? It's a game console, that's why it has a game controller with it. If you want "rock solid" control for video playback, buy a dedicated player for that particular media. Otherwise, complaints need to be made to the manufacturers of these devices (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc.).This is not a Control4 problem, they have no control (no pun intended) over what these console manufacturers do or don't want to allow.
EDIT: And long ago I thought IR capabilities on the remotes might be nice, but that just introduces too many variables. Using your phone or tablet to control the room? Out of luck. Didn't point the remote perfectly at a picky device? Out of luck. The list goes on.

What??  Most, if not all, dealers certainly have a system in their own homes that range from big to small.  We use these systems everyday, just like our customers do.
IR blaster on an RF remote is just plain stupid if you ask me.  That brings in the whole realm of having to point the remote at certain device, but don't have to at other devices.  Just brings confusion.
I also see no need for BT at all.  The very few devices you're talking about are all capable of IP control.  It's the manufacturers that has blocked/locked integration capabilities, NOT C4.  So that's where the blame needs to be pointed at, not C4.

My experience with Bluetooth -- every version of it, even the "good" version -- has been less than stellar. Its shit technology that is never implemented correctly by the vendor or manufacturer. Maybe next year they'll get it right. 🙄 Hard pass. Use something that works.

And even more devices have ip. If a device is advanced enough to have bt. Shouldn't it have ip control?

I can honestly say that I can't remember a dealer ever asking me about adding BT to a controller.  It just doesn't come up and I spend all day everyday with dealers.  I'm not saying there wouldn't be a few uses for it but it's not something that dealers seem to want.

You almost answered your own question by pointing out that pretty much every device on the planet does wifi, so why not just use network drivers that don't have the limitations BT has?
