One of the 3rd party drivers that was created by @msgreenf is also an Amcrest driver. It supports both brands. There isn't much of a way around not using the driver. It may be possible to add a free generic camera test driver for each of your cameras but that may require a little more work but you will not benefit from any of the enhanced motion sensing programming features of the 3rd party driver option.  Your choice. Personally, I recommend the 3rd party option.

As long as your controller OS is on at least 2.91, you should be able to take advantage of any of the available 3rd party dahua drivers.  As for reputable dealers, you'll know you picked the right one when you feel like you got value for the buck.  A fair dealer will throw in a couple freebies or fix a couple obvious flaws while they're in your system.  You're not expected to know how much more you can squeeze out of your system without extra cost so I try to throw the options out there or just add the features right there and then at no extra cost.  I'll even do a few programming examples to help steer them on the right track.
Not all of us advertise as we're not looking to spread ourselves thin.  I frequent the forums on my free time and try to be available at the very present moment when I notice someone who's having issues or needs integration.
I could vouch for the persons mentioned above as well.

Dahua may be a large OEM,  but if they have no interest in making the driver, Control4 likely may not make one.  3rd party driver creators fill this void, but at a cost.  As far as who is honest/reputable/fair etc, look at the feedback on the "looking for a integrator" section.  That'll be a good indicator of who's experienced, and reputable here.  The forums tend to police themselves, so there aren't many if any "hacks" on the forums who do shoddy work.

The ones that I know of and have actually dealt with professionally:

The changes are likely too small to warrant a "bid". It should take an hour or so depending on how many cameras and the Dahua

Poll:  Can this community go one month without talking about Dealer vs. Power User or the Intercom App?
The drama always keeps coming back.  Voice your opinions at the directed audience.  Users can call C4 corporate at any time.  Dealers have no way, shape or form, to change the business policies.  Pretty simple to understand.
This drama is going to force people to not come back, myself included.

Maybe you do, but I don't.

I think customer know dealers are people and people are not always high performing. C4 customers are sometimes very smart and very capable and in some cases substantially more qualified to work with software and hardware than a person that went to a week long class.
My dealer told me my amp was broken. He gave me a quote while he was looking at it in the rack. I asked him if it was plugged in. He said it wouldn't power on. I asked him if he checked the power. He said yes, when he hit the power button it wouldn't turn on. I walked behind the rack and flipped the power switch. It turned on. I should trust this person because they are a professional. I get it.

I always try not to comment on these as they get nowhere but it does build up over time so here is my 2 cents..
I don't get all this comparisons to cars... If you buy a car no matter how expensive or what brand/make/model.... the point is it's your car and you can choose to service it as you wish with a dealership or do it yourself.
With C4 the feeling for me is I still do not "own" my system as I do not have full control of it even though it is fully purchased. EVERYONE short of many of the dealers on this forum I have ever had conversations with all refuse to use C4 for this very reason. I can't disagree. I love it and it's abilities but for the majority they are not going to even be seen as an option as there are so many more open cheaper options out there actually have wider capabilities though not being as streamlined as C4.
I did get my first hands on with C4 due to being in a new construction community. The initial year passed in the community so I put feelers out to see who was not using their gear to see if I could get more equipment. I have had 2 people in the entire neighborhood say they still had an active 4site subscription to control their Thermostat. It blew my mind to here so many say "what smart switches?" or "I wondered why those switches looked diffrent than the rest." and "I wondered what that C4 box (EA-1) was for." In the end I have more people offering to sell me EA-1's than I can fathom buying let alone using!.. And this was just "my" neighborhood. The builder did 5 neighborhoods that year all with the "smart home" package. That is so much unused equipment!
How is that helping C4? Why is that the market C4 is going for? I have no idea how this strategy is paying off other than they only need one actual "sale/install" in the neighborhood and the price is going to be so high it covers the cost of all the hardware they just threw away?? Ya I still don't get it. Also they have now flooded the market with gear that only the DIYers could find a use for anyway because with C4 it's all about selling a package/solution and don't have any model to build your system one component at a time due to having to hire someone else to add it to your system. They do not have to change their dealer model even as if you do it yourself and need help... you still need to contact a dealer.
Anyway.. we are all here because of our love/hate for C4. I do feel that giving end users full control of their system would cause way more love than hate for them. This forum is with out quesion in a silo and outside of it there is far more hate than love found for c4. Actually let them use it and I guarntee that changes!

The answer to that question depends on why you want to create drivers.  Is it for your personal system? Is it as a business?
Regardless as both @TheWizard mentions writing drivers isn't about the language but more about the underlying communications protocols that the products require for communications.  A solid understanding of TCP, UDP, HTTP, UPnP, Websockets and more is required to get started.
From a business standpoint though it is a niche market so you have a limited amount of potential sales.  The maximum drivers you can ever sell is limited based on the number of systems installed (which is at current 1100 Control4 systems per week).  That is of course if you go by licencing.  You can always contract your services to manufacturers.  That however is a bit harder as they need to have a reason to go to you for development rather than the competition.
    Hope that helps.

I guess I don't understand how this is different from the "allow non-dealers access to Pro" discussions.

Once you are no longer a dealer or employee, you are essentially in the same boat as the rest of us.   Why should you have any different status/access just because you used to have access through a dealer?  License HE and enjoy the frustration that comes with the limitations it has.

(As for the idea of having a method of preventing Pro from being used on any system other than a users personal one, I'm all for it)
