There is so much more to product integration then "do we feel like integrating that?". I'm not passing the blame in either direction on this, just pointing out there is so much more to consider and things happening behind the scenes that the average consumer isn't aware of, especially when it comes to privacy and information sharing.

Savant and Crestron work with Google Home actually...not sure where you're getting your information from but just look in the Google Home app and try to add a device and you'll see a list of about 100 companies that integrate.
And for what it's worth- Google had nothing to do with our (Epic Systems) Google Home driver ceasing to function...had only to do with the way Philips Hue's authentication works...since we were leveraging the Hue APIs to communicate with the Google Home.

Historically Control4 has been very open and forthcoming of their future plans and features.
And it’s Opposite Day

C4 may have hired someone from Amazon - but they were also in the press release for integration with Apple. And that was at an Apple event. Not sure C4 is playing favorites. 100% speculation. But my guess is C4 will try to get involved in any platform - its the best option for their survival. Their entire sales pitch is joining multiple platforms - why would they purposely ignore Android?

The History Agent needs to be added to your system for it to show I believe, something for anyone not seeing it in general to keep in mind

msgreenf reacted to joepap in alexa integration with control 4 speakers
One thing I found after doing this for a few days.... msgreenf had me follow instructions to create a group on Alexa for all echos. What I found was this plays whatever you’re asking Alexa to play on all your Alexa devices (as well as the speakers you turned on in your c4 system). Not on all music sources, but when I’m listening to radio, the echo device and the speakers were slightly off causing an echo (no pun intended)
I figured out that no matter what echo/Alexa you’re talking to, you can say, “Alexa, play music on (insert the name of your echo connected to the controller). And bam, none of the other Alexa’s are playing at the same time as your house speakers.
Loving the setup! Listening to more stuff on the speakers then ever!

If you read back on the post, that wasn't the main issue. The music is then also tied to your phone if you do it from your phone. Y By integrating alexa into it as an audio out to the C4, all the audio is then coming from the alexa--amazon/spotify/sirius, etc... If I walk out of range of my C4 system while playing music, the house loses the music. My phone battery dies more.... you get a phone call.... etc.
The way he set it up, I say two things to alexa and then music is playing where i want it to. My wife is much happier.....happy wife...you know the rest. For the non tech savy, this is a great way to do it.

While you can get the package name from the Play store, you need to use ADB logging to get component name (filter for cmp= in the log).

Got the driver working. Took some time enabling IP on the X1 box. Seems to be working just fine. Will continue to test. Leaving my IR bud in place just in case we need to revert back quickly.

I called my company that manages my system. They said they would have to come out and do it in person. I thought it could be done remotely but they didn't like that idea. Don't really want to spend 300$ for this feature with an in home visit...
msgreenf contacted me and after a few emails back and forth got my system up and running just the way I wanted. Now I simply say, "alexa, turn on kitchen speakers" and then "alexa play jazz on amazon music everywhere" and bam...music playing thru my speakers in the kitchen and anywhere else I wanted them playing.
Thanks again msgreenf!

msgreenf reacted to RyanE in Samsung Tv IP Drivers!
None of the 2017 (or 2018) Samsung TVs have ex-link natively on board.
They all use a USB to ex-link adapter, which is available through Samsung distributors.
There is a serial control option in the IP drivers for Samsung.

We have 2 zones, upstairs & down, 2 thermostats. Thankfully there's no multi-zone on each unit. I don't know if that's doable with ecobee.
I still have variable speed. (its actually a multistage).
The wiring is also in the manual. I can't remember the HVAC website I got most info, but I attached a couple of diagrams that should help get you going.
PS....I think its worth the time and research to make the change. I sold my carrier thermostat on eBay, which covers the cost for 1+ ecobee. Now I can either use C4 to control the thermostat or my watch or HomeKit or Alexa..... love the flexibility. love the ecobee. From what my normal HVAC guy tells me the real loss is the hidden maintain type settings on the inifinti thermostat. he too made the change.

msgreenf reacted to HRT in Spotify Connect playlist shuffle
you can do it in a few less steps, but its how spotify works not control4.
step 1 turn on playlist in said room
step 2 use digital media driver to turn on shuffle in said room
step 3 delay (800ms but you might try playing with this*)
step 4 skip track
* If you have too short of a delay it won't skip track as it hasn't fully loaded, if you have too long of a delay you hear a blip of the first track you don't want to hear.

Mitch is fantastic! Seriously, we connected on here yesterday about updating my C4 to the newest version so I could add the functionality of the Music Services. He was quick to answer all of my questions and setup a time to get things rolling THE SAME DAY!! I have a good dealer but it is difficult to get on the calendar and I knew it would be weeks before I could be upgraded. I also discovered that they have a FREE Ecobee driver and I had him install that while he was on the system. Just to further explain how good Mitch is.....he told me that my Roku driver was very old, asked me if I wanted "direct access" icons under the "Watch" tab of C4 for Netflix, Hulu and all my Roku channels. He dialed that up in a matter of minutes and completely changed my viewing experience with my Roku!
Amazon Music Service is really good. If you are a prime member, you might as well give it a shot as it is included. Super easy to setup on C4.
First class communications, quick, easy and very reasonable. I will definitely use Mitch again in the future!
Thanks Mitch! Could not be more happy!

msgreenf got a reaction from Home Theater Advisors in Apple TV (4th gen) wake up TV and unable to turn off
in Settings > Remotes and Devices, you can choose the following:
Control TVs and Receivers: Decide whether your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote automatically turns on your television or receiver.
Turn that off.
Then control4 remote will do everythig without interference from apple tv

You mean Liberty Bell Alarm? One Touch Media took over the project for over a year, faithfully upgraded my OS, and left the rooms as-is. Thankfully Neil fixed it... just waiting on working cameras!
