msgreenf reacted to Drake0508 in C4 vs the rest
Despite having a Control4 system, I am still a big fan of Savant. There is a fair amount of customization that the customer can do. Having said that, it works with far less products and certainly doesn’t offer the type of freedom that Composer HE does. If you want DIY, stay in that genre. My advice is that once you’ve lived with the DIY solution and figure out exactly what it is you want to control, ditch that setup and invest in a Control4 system. The reliability alone is worth the extra money. I wouldn’t go back.

I mean you are posting on a c4 forums, so I think you'll get some fairly Pro-C4 responses. If you just wanted to control lights and HVAC I'd almost say go to a hub. If you want to include audio and video and security (locks, sensors, cameras) and all the other stuff, stick with c4. do an upgrade, buy Composer HE and you can still do ~90% of what you can do now with Composer Pro and you'll get a better overall experience.
When friends see what I've done with my house they always ask about C4, its not for everyone which is why I mention if you want just simple lights/HVAC control there are cheaper options. If you want automation vs control and want to do it over a broad spectrum of devices, C4 is a way better solution.

Did your installer put the Sony TV into Pro Mode?? If so, he may have only allowed those apps to show and nothing else.

msgreenf reacted to Drake0508 in C4 vs the rest
I left hubs like Smartthings and Vera and have not looked back. While it can do a lot of things that you are already doing, it’s terribly frustrating to have most of your automations dependent on the cloud. I had so many outages that my wife was ready to throw the things out the window.

msgreenf reacted to eggzlot in Zigbee Outlet Recommendations
I use a wemo and IFTTT driver for a Christmas tree. I have a Christmas mode in my house that changes the doorbell to Xmas themes as well as controlling switched outlets for exterior lights and the wemo for the tree.

Go with TP-Link (although they are wifi, not zigbee). I use them all over the house. They work great with the Chowmain driver.

I don’t know. I know HL is dead 😉. That’s where I left off

msgreenf reacted to dcovach in Blue Iris only showing static images on C4 devices
The Houselogix Blue Iris driver works. I can see a live feed properly on C4 navs. The same camera using the C4 native driver does not work, meaning I only get a static image. No live feed.
The Houselogix driver allows you to select which encoder stream to use in a drop down (plus a lot of other settings and feature). The H264 stream in the drop down down doesn't display properly on a T3 (diagonal lines across the screen), but Encoder Stream 0, 1, and 2 display a live feed properly (as expected) because I set those to work within C4 recommended settings.
Hopefully its an easy fix for the C4 native drivers to work properly soon. I'm not sure if its possible to buy a licence for the Houselogix version anymore.

Is there any way to run diagnostics on an hc800 to see if there are issues? General statement I’m aware but I’ve had too many random issues
hdmi handshake issues on previously stable items. Video matrix not changing inputs. Door and motion sensors reacting several seconds late. Door station working hit or miss. Fobs working intermittently. I added a stronger new antenna to my hc800 and created a second mesh off my hc250 so I should be good and some of these issues like video are non zigbee related.
Its Labor Day so trying to spare my dealer. Anyone have ideas I can do own my own?

I had a custom button play the announcement sound in the house of clinking ice cubes in a glass, and the text to speech say "cocktail please"....My wife thought it was funny twice then made me erase it.

Sounds like an outdated driver and that you don't have driver auto update enabled. The Pandora driver had a recent update

msgreenf reacted to dcovach in Timer programming question
A "delay" will halt any programming below that line until the delay is complete. Consider it like a pause. Not a big deal for what you're doing but it's not really the best way to use a delay.
Programming continues to run below any code using timers
The programming I showed several conversations above is your typical "occupancy timer" for motion.
Delays have better use cases in programming.

I think you should consider the timer - it's actually the best way.

I think this is a serious breach of some contract. C4 does not do betas... just kidding! We all eagerly await the next super fast version of the app!

msgreenf reacted to RyanE in Could release cycles become more frequent?
This is something Control4 has been moving towards for some time, and I assume will continue to move forward.
Driverworks drivers, for example, can be released and updated (assuming no new OS release is required for driver functionality) at any time, and with the online database, often are.

you could also use shairbridge and stream for an airplay device.

msgreenf reacted to KWD in Low Voltage outdoor lighting question
I plan on plugging my transformer directly into a Kasa outlet since no plug in outlets will fit into a outdoor waterproof box. Hard wiring to a C4 switch is what I would do if Kasa didn't make an outlet. Chowmain driver works great with Kasa.

Just saw a new kb posted by Control4 tech support. Win 7 is no longer supported by Control4. It might not be related to your issue, but you may need to upgrade to Windows 10.

should probably skip the HC250 and get an EA1 or EA3. HC250 cannot do OS3.
