msgreenf reacted to lippavisual in Why Can't I Use My iPad App At Home Without The Internet On 3.x.x
Easiest workaround is to set your controllers with a static IP.

Poor man's video distribution: TiVo.
I love TiVo. There, I said it.
Cannot play same source on all TVs at once, but works PERFECT when you watch something in one location and then want to pick up in the same spot in another location. TiVo Mini behind each TV ($150 each - beat that), and the TiVo Bolt+ or newer Edge in the rack. Works great. The interface, TV guide, season pass, and commercial skip, and fast playback mode (great for sports at 30% faster without chipmunk voices) are all miles ahead of anything else out there.

agree here 100%. I have video distribution in my house (using Video Storm) and we host big parties all the time for sporting events, new years, etc. People ask to come over because they enjoy watching games on my Sony OLED. maybe 10% of my friends realize I have a distribution system, yet none of those 10% (or others) have a clue about compression or anything of the like.
Sometimes people just get lost in the #'s and data and not real world applications. Heck the Sony is 4k, prior to that I had a Panny VT Plasma that wasnt 4k, and I can barely notice any difference even with 4k content and that includes using the built in apps for 4k so 100% no compression. There are diminishing returns to the human eye after a certain point.
Its a different hobby, but same deal with higher end SLR cameras, full frame vs cropped sensors, 24 mega pixel for 30 megapixel, etc. The difference is basically only in data/labs, not in real world viewing.

But you can easily block all that in a fw

Because you're using the TruAudio amps, you'll have to add the C4 AMP drivers, so they will give you audio endpoints along wit the trigger option. You'd use the 8 channel version even though you only have 6 zone amps.

I am generally not a fan of distributed video since local video sources are so cheap. Like a Roku ultra

I know you were. Sorry if it didn’t come across that way.

This has now been integrated now. Was a bit of a pain but got everything integrated.
Note this is a new driver in the suite and effects must be executed in via a programming command (it was either that or add in 18 light proxies which after an internal office vote decided it would clutter navigator).

You really should use the IP driver. That said, congrats on figuring out how to make an IR driver.
Hopefully the receiver doesn’t catch direct sunlight or light from a fluorescent bulb, or the IR bud fall off, or the power get out of sync with rapid fire on/off/on commands. IR is a gigantic pain in the ass. I don’t have a single IR driver in my system and plan to keep it that way.

This is C4 programming 101 and covered in the 5 day automation programmer training required by all C4 dealers/technicians.

You can use a z2ir or z2io for local ir for much lower cost then ea1s -

I love having the same display on a bunch of TV’s, and being able to move throughout the house and take the show with me. Video distribution rocks.

On a t3 or mobile app navigate to the camera and tap and hold on it. An option to favorite will come up -

Seems to me that you should be talking your client in to putting the AVR on the network and doing this properly with an IP driver?

msgreenf reacted to LarryJ in Greenfield Solutions Remote Programming
My primary frustration with C4 over time has been the lack of access an owner / user has had historically to make seemingly simple changes. Rather than pay what I believed to be very high rates to a local dealer to make some simple tweaks, I would instead try and hack things together myself - with moderate success. I would use C4 for 70% of something, and then fall back to a device(s)-specific remote(s) to bridge the last 30%. Over time this wears one (and his wife) down.
After reading about Alexa integration on these forums and poking around a bit I saw Mitch's name consistently come up, so I decided to reach out. Mitch was immediately responsive, spending more time than was originally planned to help catch my system up and once again turn it into a true pleasure to work with. The remotes are gone, except for the C4 remote, and with the Alexa integration Mitch has helped enable for me I expect even that will disappear.
Many thanks to Mitch for his support, and patience. I would absolutely recommend Mitch to anyone that finds themselves in a similar boat, or simply looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and fair expert to work with.
Thanks Mitch (my wife says thank you as well)!

Using mostly-developed hardware doesn't lessen the fact that the UI and other interactions with the remote *are* innovative.

How about the Nvidia Shield?
I think it supports Atmos better than the ATV, has Netflix support now. And has miniapps.
If you are doing full Bluray rips and Plex the only thing to support bitstreaming would be via a shield or PC with compatible video card.
