msgreenf reacted to Matt Lowe in Anyone Using ARC Baluns?
Actually newer receivers can not use EARC and ARC with out turning on CEC. Its worked well with my samsung and lg oled with my avrx8500.

Universal Mini apps are drivers available through Control4's online database, that work with app-enabled devices, that allow you to show the icon for the service on the user interfaces, and when those service icons are chosen, the device providing the service is selected.
They are 'universal' in the sense that there is not a specific Netflix mini-app for Roku, and a different one for Amazon Fire TV. It's the same mini-app, it can connect to either of the devices that supply the service.
It's a nice addition to Control4's UI, and makes it easy for dealers to directly expose services to the UI for the homeowner.

Well I mean if you already have the gear give it a go - it sometimes works.
C4 programming looks like this - Take the optical out out of the TV and bind it to the TV input on the Denon. Then set your Denon AVR settings so that the TV input on the Denon uses the ARC and not optical.
Then as far as C4 knows its got a good audio connection and in the C4 world it knows nothing about the ARC.
Once again you may experience issues from time to time, it won't be bulletproof, but it should work 95+% of the time.

The solution you're looking for is called "Roku"
Its a lot cheaper than that balun too

msgreenf got a reaction from Matt Lowe in Tivo SDDP Lessons Learned
Just learned something cool about SDDP yesterday on the Tivo - so i thought I would share. If you are using the latest driver and you have identified your devices via SDDP, if you replace a tivo and name the new one EXACTLY the same (same capitalization and everything), then it will just work in control4 without having to re-id it.
This would avoid having to get a dealer involved when replacing a device.

msgreenf reacted to alanchow in IR Code/Driver Fault - peculiar behaviour?
Baddly formatted IR codes will lock the IR port on the controller requiring a reboot.

Yes yes and up to you. You can let is stay on mini app name or select pass thru in the driver. Up to you. Functions either way

msgreenf reacted to Crustyloafer in TVs without discrete inputs
A HDMI switch or a new TV is the best option in the long run from a dealer/installer’s perspective, too many support calls as a result of things getting out of sync.
If I charged my minimum call out charge every time I had to fix it, it would very swiftly work out cheaper to get a decent TV instead.

Control4's My Movies implementation is fixed from what I have heard.

msgreenf reacted to South Africa C4 user in Updating drivers
Good spot... I suspect that was a miss by C4... deleting drivers is way more dangerous than changing names or adding them... in my opinion.

no there isn't. And that number doesn't necessarily mean that you need that many updates. It may be due to your composer he having outdated local driver files
