Sure - I'm speculating.  But, in my experience, like I said, Snap has been a good partner and I'm hoping they realize this is a big deal for C4 customers and dealers and thus make it a pleasant transition (if it even happens).

Snap's 'partnering' and buyouts have been a mixed bag. Just look at Houselogix and how that basically killed that company.

No issues with Snap as such, for their core business, but I wouldn't judge what happens in this scenario based on that at all (Same if it were the other way around mind you, C4 has the same mixed bag of how they handled take-overs).

Note that I'm not expecting it to go bad - just not expecting it to go good either, it's going to be a big wait and see. That is arguably the one thing I really don't like at this point - wait and see is not my favorite approach

and I'm confident that SnapAV will make whatever transition required as painless as possible for both customers and dealers.

Oh? Why would you be confident about that? There's no reason to assume either way at this point

I think everyone just needs to calm down and let things play out for a bit before drawing any conclusions.

I agree (even if that completely undermines your own 'confidence' 😉)

This is all very early yet, no certainty it will even happen at all as of yet, let alone how it will work out.

    Feel for the dealers

Why? Many dealers already use SnapAV, and Snap is a closed dealer system company... 😋

    There's your sign....

Commercial job rule number one: Use product you know and trust

Out of town job rule number one: Use product you know and trust

In my dealings with them they have been good.

LOL, politely being dangled by the nose 😉

Look, nobody truly blames an individual for trying to save money. You win some, you lose some. But as a pro installer, you have a responsibility to ensure you're well informed, and you're expected to know your product. Sure, in the custom space, there will be items that are new and you haven't used. Plus you have to start somewhere. But on base items like a video switch, going with the cheapest option possible.........

Here's a hint - the only thread I'm able to find under the dealer forums for Control4 for No Hassle AV.....is pointed to this very thread.

  4. The T3 Series Touch Screens auto-calibrate during boot up:

To calibrate the TT7 & TT10 touch screens, press and hold the button on the top right of the unit until "Do you want to shut down?" appears, then press OK. After power down, press and hold the same button from the prior step to boot the touch screen back up.

To calibrate the WALL7 & WALL10 touch screens, press and hold the top button to the right of the reset pinhole until "Do you want to shut down?" appears, then press OK. After power down, press and hold the same button from the prior step to boot the touch screen back up.

  5. Hmm. In conjunction with the new ATV 4/4K driver, there is also an update to the 'old' driver. So it's easy enough to see how one might think THAT would be the 'updated' driver.

Unfortunately not everyone lists themselves for dealer info emails (especially not in companies with multiple programmers installed) - and even then it's always possible to 'miss' one.

On top of all that there has been a recently created 'new' IR driver that has been touted on the dealer forums as well for the past month or two.

Don't get all aggro on a single dealer/employee over what COULD be a simple mistake/misunderstanding

I want to make sure I'm completely clear, you can not do intercom on ipads/android tablets ONLY on TS or just doesn't integrate well? I was told could do intercom on ipads.

You cannot do normal intercom on tablets (not including the native C4 screens). You CAN now do it on iPhones and Android PHONES using a SECOND app (which also allows you to do it off-site).

There are some SIP apps that could be used, but integration there is so-so at best.

Yes we’ve had issues with C4 motions (made by cardaccess I believe) going offline. Diamond dealer and now C4 tech has actually been out. Monitoring now but a big pain for over a year. Just noticed there are now motions with “external antenna”.

Pretty certain nothing changed for ZigBee between V1 and V2 of the EA - sounds more like it was a generic hardware failure

MSRP vs actual price are often very different.

Point in the end being, if a V1 is a fair bit cheaper to get, there is little reason for an end-user to get the V2 UNLESS it's specifically to get rid of the popping noise (VERY rare issue).

From a dealer perspective, if there's little difference, there's no reason NOT to get the V2
