RyanE got a reaction from msgreenf in Issues with watching different shows on different tvs
Not sure how you think Control4 is supposed to make a single source supply different outputs... Surely if you had a single DVD player attached, which was playing a particular DVD, you wouldn't expect it to be able to play a different DVD for a different room at the same time.

You should just get another one for practice.

I never understood the complaints of no backlight for Neeo. There's only a handful of buttons to memorize.

I have one called 'Main Sensors' that is similar, but not quite as extensive.

Nor are you likely to unless you're building a brand new place AND consciously selecting lighting that does use it. SOME extremely high end chandeliers or fixtures use it in what you'd COULD call residential lighting (for very exclusive residences) but as said, it's more a commercial thing (also, hotels, exposition halls etc, commercial in this case certainly doesn't equal store or industrial).
You may see it on patio heaters though.
Just as a FYI - the reason to use 0-10v is that you don't have to deal with the actual load/wattage - bypassing limitations of what most 'line' dimmers can handle.
So you can have 10 chandeliers that may be 1000w each and are wired to 5 20 amp breakers, and control them from a single 0-10v dimmer.

RyanE reacted to lebron2k21 in old house with KNX, upgrade to Control4?
I have already come to terms with that a lot of things will be changed.
I am open to taking out the doorbell, lock and alarm and add products that are compatible with control4. Control4 chime for example.

Sorry. Speakers are just wired normally through an old amp.
Alarm system is on its own system. With keypad and sensors in house.
Door gateway system with camera that you can unlock the door from the livingroom. (old school intercom with picture).
Garage doors on its own system with its own remote.

RyanE reacted to Cyknight in SnapAV is now renamed Snap One
Yup - SnapAV was never a 'product' brand, but a distribution channel/umberlla company for other brands (including but not limited to several brands owned by Snap).
Pretty sure they even mentioned exactly that - the product brands will remain the same.

Dimming devices that use a 0-10v signal for the dim level.
This is much more common in commercial lighting (fluorescent / LED).

I'm guessing you're likely overestimating how 'common' 3D household printers are. 😄 What, global sales of 3D printers industrial and personal is going to be around the 15 million total sold units now?
It's expanding and fast, but it's not exactly a household item.

RyanE got a reaction from Cinegration in How to create a status screen
Agents show up under the 'Agents' section in ComposerPro. Anything that doesn't show up there isn't an agent.
Certainly, there are many drivers that act like agents, and have agent-like functionality, but an agent is a specific thing within ComposerPro and within Control4 system.
I've named a driver an agent before (Light Usage Agent), but it doesn't make it one, and I try to not do that these days, and of course, you're not kicked out of the club if you do so...
Also, typically agents operate on a set of devices (lights, thermostats, whole project, etc.), not on (as in this case) a limited set of contacts/relays.
Operating on a set of devices was originally my justification for naming Light Usage Agent, since it operates (potentially) on all lights in the project.
This is, of course, just my opinion, so you can take that for what it's worth...

Sounds cool, except I hate that they call it an 'agent', when that word has a very specific meaning within Control4, and that isn't actually an agent, it's a driver.

RyanE reacted to cdepaola in 85" TV
The differences in quality between these two TV's are going to be miniscule, it will be more about what brand you like better or what styling you like better. Personally I still prefer Sony over Samsung and have far less issues with things like IP control on the Sony vs Samsung. Right now it will also come down to which TV you can actually find, both have been on back order for months.

RyanE got a reaction from Time2Jet in WTB: IRUSB x2
There aren't a lot of things in this industry that you can buy for $39 a piece plus tax and shipping, and IRUSBs aren't usually found second-hand, because they aren't terribly mainstream.

Too bad C4 wasn't owned by MSFT or those of us who have been vaccinated would already have this capability thanks to Bill Gates - along with magnetism!

If you want it to do keypad functions then just swap it out for a keypad. Then you can engrave the buttons.

LOL
Another one where the question is if it's worth the battery time loss vs function. The biggest point of hard buttons is that you don't have to see them. Not against it in principle, but it would have to be weighed accordingly.
PS, I'm also not saying the battery life on the Neeo is a problem now - just don't want it to become one.
