RyanE reacted to Cyknight in Best rail mount sensors for garage doors? and Z2IO question
Oh I understand the possible reasons, I was literally asking OPs reason.
But OP was literally asking for rail mounts.

I don't think it's necessarily a change of policy, as Control4 has pre-announced functionality around CEDIA timeframe when the release was still pending, although the goal of course is always to have the release ready for CEDIA.
Of course, I'm not speaking for Snap One / Control4 when I make that guess...

yep and the ability to choose to have different music playing while watching TV in the same room is a request I get from end users all the time.

Finally a video wall configuration again. When the previous driver broke after going to OS3, that really sucked for my basement setup. Glad to see this feature come back although implemented very differently it seems than the old driver. Can’t wait to give it a whirl vs going to all these “fake” rooms to manage my video wall.

Eggzlot beat me to the post. We purchase a Liftmaster 893 Max remote and do this for every single install. It's by far one of the easiest ways to integrate Garage door opening/closing functions.
The Lift Master 893 Max garage door opener can open almost any door from 1993 until now. It works on any garage door motor that has a green, orange/red, purple, yellow circle. it works on Liftmaster and Chamberlin doors.
Here is a chart if you want to find your remote.
Because the garage door remotes use such a low frequency they can travel a long distance. Even if you can't get the Liftmaster 893 Max inside your garage, if you get it close chances are it will still work. For best results, I recommend trying to hard wire it to a controller relay. Z2io's are a good option too as a last resort.
You can buy the door openers off Amazon. If you've never solder before it just takes a few moments practice but isn't super hard.
After programming the remote/button. To verify you have the correct contacts, you can short them out with a small paper clip to make you are about to solder the right contacts.
I do not recommend getting the Garadget device. It's just as easy to wire up a Liftmaster 893 Max. Once you do this setup, you'll wonder why you ever tried to bother with cloud based drivers.

If you're going to use a z2io per door, I recommend getting 2 contacts right off the bat. It's not any harder to wire up both an 'opened' and a 'closed' contact at the same time, and you then get the benefit of knowing when the door is 'partially opened', and also knowing when it's opening / closing.
The Garage Door experience button shows all 3 states (plus 'unknown'), which is nice for 'real' feedback.

This sounds like a chicken and egg problem...
Also, sounds like a security hole waiting to happen.

I'm just sorry i didn't do it sooner and wasted sooo much time on trying to make the various cloud driver options work

It's not all that complicated or expensive to hard wire, and a *LOT* easier and less expensive than replacing the garage door opener(s).
Better solution all around.

I have no idea how to solder and I soldered(had to buy some cheap supplies) my liftmaster remote in 30 minutes. I called my dealer and installed two Nyce tilt sensors. Then i programmed the two buttons that I soldered to the buttons on my garage remote. Then I plugged my soldered wires into my controllers contact switches.
didn't need no z2io either. less than an afternoon of work and done. The only catch is that your garage remote needs to work from your rack locations. if it doesn't then you might need the z2io.
This is easy and way more reliable than the cloud options I have tried in the past.

hard wire a keypad, buy garage door magnets off amazon and never have to worry about a driver again. 30 bucks or so for a keyfob, 30 bucks or so for magnets, some wire, and pay a dealer to program

But is the OP real? Just skeptical of the one post syndrome, the person creates a forum name that reads like a loud subject line, and never another posts again. It's actually very effective as these normally create lots of responses to each other Maybe this is why other forums have the moderator monitor your first few posts before taking the training wheels off.
If this is a genuine issue then my bad...

The proper solution is to hard wire LiftMaster keypads and 3rd party connect sensors. That has ALWAYS been the case. It's not just Control4.

doesn't that apply to all systems?

This is my #1 reason why I don't like cloud-based solutions.
They can stop working out from under you, on the whim of someone in accounting at a corporate office miles away from you, and no accountability from the manufacturer when this happens...
For garage doors, nothing beats hard-wired sensors and a hard-wired relay connection to the door open / close button on the wall-mounted GDO controller.
No latency issues, no cloud issues, no firmware version issues... Easy to setup, you don't need anyone's permission, just a little soldering to a couple of contacts, and installation of door position sensors on the rails.
Mine ALWAYS works, and since I have 2 sensors on the door, I know when it's fully opened, fully closed, and somewhere in-between those 2 states, and knowing that allows me to also know definitively when it's opening vs. closing.

Sounds like diy might be a better fit.
you own it
you won’t be nickel and dimed, nice and cheap, switches that start $10
you can program it yourself
you can rely on all 987 vendors excellent tech supports to find out why stuff doesn’t work seemlessly with each other

Composer Home Edition allows for more configuration by the homeowner than any of the leading automation systems (Control4, Savant, Creston, etc)
You can sign up for email notifications of system outages as well.

Yes, momentary is one of the settings for a relay output. In Control4-land, it's called 'Pulse', as opposed to 'Toggle', and the Pulse option has a pulse length.
