What spa to buy to integrate with control4?

I know that there are drivers for Jandy and Pentai but what spa's are out their that use them? Talked to couple of local spa dealers and they looked at me like I was speaking greek!

We got the Jandy and it is horrible - We are having huge issues and we are not using the house integration yet - unfortunately (VERY long story) but the original spa people were Jandy dealers and we had to get another dealer to finish and they are Pantai dealers so all we get now is finger pointing.

I would NEVER buy a spa around C4 integration. Get the one that is good quality, size, etc...than integrate later if possible.

We had a spa built - over looks the lake - the dealer that installed it for us installed JANDY equipment - we had no idea what quality it was - they undersized our pumps and over sized the heater. The lady's son had a party where they got into her liquor cabinet and she went to jail because one of her sons party attendees had an accident after the party.

Consequently we had to get a new dealer and all the other ones do the other company - I think that Jandy is actually quality - I just can't get service on mine...

But - both of the named spa dealers in the OPs question have a C4 controller driver so I agree - get what you like and interface later.

TexasBill, I'd be interested to hear more about your Jandy issues. I am on year two of trying to integrate my Jandy pool control with Control4. I've been through four serial interfaces boxes for the Jandy, three blown serial ports on my HC300s and rewiring the original Cat 5e wire from the pool control box with 18-gauge wire. I still have no pool control. It's worked for brief periods, ranging from a day to a couple of months, but has now not worked for at least 6 months. My dealer keeps at it, but I'm about to lose my mind.

Best regards,

David

David,

Do you have a strong WiFi signal out at the location of the Jandy controller?

If so, I'd use a WF2SL, from Global Cache. It takes WiFi, and gives you a serial port, without any wiring issues or blown serial ports because of lightning, etc.

There's a Control4 Certified driver for it, and it seems to work quite well.

The original person that I had install the spa was a JANDY dealer and that is what they installed with the knowledge that I DEMANDED a home automation interface. (Her son had a party at their house and got into the liquor cabinet and someone at the party killed someone on the way home from the party - so SHE went to jail.)

I then had to have someone else finish the spa - they did not tell me that they were NOT a Jandy dealer.

Ever since it was installed it will not work right - this is simply from the control box to the spa - NEVER MIND the home automation interface which also does not work - but how could it if the main control box will not control the heater?

The valves work flawlessly - it is the HEATER that will not work. It will show a red light in the heater control display but not start - or it will start and heat up to 74 degrees and then shut off and i have to go down and manually each time turn it off and then turn it on again and then it works.

The second dealer says "we can't work on it as we don't have the parts and if we did try and work on it we would void your warranty" , all the other Jandy dealers refuse to come out because "we did not install it". The Territory Service Manager for Jandy won't come out because "you are not a dealer and I am not a service tech.

So - consequently - while I believe that Jandy is probably good equipment - I would strongly recommend that if you are going to install Jandy you are VERY careful and make sure that you are going to get service.

RyanE, thanks for the suggestion. I'll discuss with my dealer when he comes to work on the problem again on Monday. I'm sure he's (almost) as frustrated as I am with this problem.

TexasBill, I'm so sorry to hear what a bad experience this has been for you.

Best regards,

David
