c44me
So after installing the C4 thermostat (with my heat pump) it will *only* put out warm heater air in 'emergency heat' mode (which I have to manually set) on the tstat. When I set it to any other mode it runs the condenser (can hear it running) and blows cold air regardless of what I set the temp on it to. My installer says its wired properly (identical to original tstat) which worked just fine...Anybody know what is wrong or why its doing this? Is there some programming I need to do to force the emergency heat? shouldn't it work in auto heat/cool ????-
henniae
We need to know how the t-stat is wired and what switch settings are set. What type of HVAC system?
c44me
It is a Carrier a/c unit and heat pump. I am attaching photos. this help?thanks!
equinney
So it looks like there is a few different issues i see here. 1. the jumper from y1 to w1. needs to be y1 to w2. W2 is the relay that kicks with eHeat. 2. when using heat pump mode you need to be running a common wire. otherwise the tstat will keep dying because it cannot keep consistent power. 3. if the tstat is on and you are calling for heat and you are getting cool you need to switch your "o" and "B" wires. Let me know if that helps you.
RyanE
Also, pictures of your HVAC system (no matter how pretty they are) don't tell which color wires are hooked up to which actual terminals on the furnace.Pictures of the furnace wiring end of these same wires would likely be more helpful.RyanE
c44me
I think we got it figured out!Apparently the common wire (blue) was the issue. we connected it and voila we are in business. the requested photos/wiring is below for reference.thanks guys!BLUE -> CWHITE -> OYELLOW -> YRED -> R

c44me
me too thanks for your help as always. I hope these photos and what we have done are now 'correct'?now I just need to figure out the best set points for the heat and cool #'s for 1.7.looks like 1.8+ had some significant changes to how the HVAC programming functionality works, that would have really been nice to have.
