smarch
Please excuse my ignorance on this. I have a question about Dune media players. Specifically which one would be suggested? Here is what I would like to accomplish. I have moives in ,iso format stored on a USB Hard Drive. I'd like to be able to stream these. They are both dvd and blu ray. Another Blu-Ray disc player couldn't hurt either. It will be connected via HDMI to a Yamaha receiver, and cat 5 to my network. I would be nice to stream other files from other computers on the network as well. Also can I plug the usb hard drive directly into it? Also is control done through IP? or IR?Thanks
diamonddesign
IP control. Either B1 or Max depending on your budget. Note that the B1 has eSATA but the max does not (I realize you need USB but in case you upgrade your enclosure that may be important). If your USB hard drive is 2TB or less you could use the max and just dissassemble the hard drive from the usb enclosure and put it in the max's slot and it will be a lot faster (thats my recommendation should you be willing to take apart the USB enclosure). smarch
So if I'm reading this right, I simply take apart my usb hard drive, remove the drive and install in the max? Will this hard drive be available on my network to add more files to it?Thanks for all the help on this.
diamonddesign
Yes the dune has an SMB server but the best way to do it is format to NTFS and then just pop it out and install it in the PC and move it very quickly that way.
