dbuono
Does anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced equipment racks? The options are a bit overwhelming and prices can creep up to high levels very quick. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
smccray
If you're budget constrained go with Craigslist.
chicagoskiguy
Agree, go with Craigslist and search for used "server racks" I picked up a nice HP/Compaq rack for free and another Sun Microsystems one for about $120... your mileage may vary. dbuono
I will look on craigslist. What is the difference (if any) between a server rack and an equipment rack?
chicagoskiguy
They have identical specifications where it counts (width, mounting, etc).... Many people here swear by MA racks, and I'm sure there are things that are better about them, but although it may be difficult to find someone selling a used MA rack, it's not too hard to find some IT Department in this economy getting rid of one of their racks. smccray
Width is the same on all the racks, but pay attention to the depth. Some of those server room racks can get really deep.
ILoveC4
The deeper the better, IMO. 26" would be ideal, but a little either way would be fine. Mine is 20 inches deep and it works, but the big 400 disc changers come within an inch or two of the back....I think.
