koreys
Sorry if this is a stupid question but the HTC does not have any HD outputs. My Plasma is curretly connected via Component inputs to my AV reciever. How would i get any On screen display/wizards to appear on screen?Since im only using Hidef inputs does this mean I need to use something o more expensize then the HTC?I want to move beyond my harmony remote and and get a real controller but dont have thousands to spend so the C4 HTC looks like a great option if I can use it with my systemMy System is:Panasonic 42" plasmaOnkyo 6.1 RecieverXbox 360 (functions as an extender for my Media Center PC)HDTV Cable box from Scientific AtlantaRight now everything my Xbox and Cable box connect to the reciever via component and the Reciever drives the display via component. I might be missing something but Im not sure how to integrate the HTC with my system. Any suggestions/insight would be much appreciated. Though not a Home Theater installer I am a Software programmer and consider myself very technical so feel free to use big words :-) Thanks! TrikinCurt
Keep in mind, it is just for the on-screen interface, it doesn't do video routing so this won't have anything to do with all of your sources to be in high-def. With this said, you would need to connect it via SVIDEO or Composite to your plasma (best choice), or through your receiver if it has up-conversion (second choice).I prefer not to route the on-screen through the receiver. Think of it this way, you are using the on-screen interface to select an mp3 file, you click play, the on-screen interface goes away because the receiver switched inputs. There are ways around this, but direct to the TV is my first choice (ok, mainly because I prefer to never use a receiver for video switching).Curt
koreys
Thanks TrikinCurt , I think I get it. I can use the svideo input on the TV to view the osd. Then I just switch the TV input to get back to my component video. Thanks again.
TrikinCurt
Correct, of course, C4 will switch the input for you so it will be seamless on your part.
Guest
Cool... So how do I go about getting my hands on one of these...?
TrikinCurt
Hands on one of what? An HTC? If you are an end user, there is a dealer locator on C4s website.CurtTrikin
Guest Darren Johnson
Yes, I have almost an identical setup and use the S-Video direct to the HDTV for the On-Screen interface. Then I use my C4 system to control my Xbox 360, TV, Receiver, stream music, control lights, etc. Use the dealer locator on our website (www.control4.com) to find a dealer in your area to purchase the products.
