Asking questions about lighting scenes and Composer HE

I am coming back to Control4 after a long absence and trying to do some things with Composer HE.  My first project is to revisit the buttons on my three six-button controllers.  There have never worked right and I hope to establish a sense of continuity in the way all the controllers are set up, including the way the LED's are used.

 

The first thing I found when I attempt to program the buttons is that there is no code in the script section of each button.  Does anyone know why this might be true?  Might I have made some mistake that wiped out all the code?

 

Secondly, I found several advanced lighting scenes in the Agents section.  These scenes look like they could be triggered by a button, but I didn't find any way to associate an button with a scene.  I also read that scenes could be created by Composer HE and I vaguely remember my very first dealer creating some for me, but I have not yet found anything that tells me how to created them.

 

I appreciate any and all help and I would be happy to read any references that anyone can point me to.

The keypad buttons are linked to scenes/lights in the Connections section of Composer Pro, which isn't available in Composer HE, which is why you aren't seeing the "missing link".  I have stated before and I'll state again...really wish they would make this stuff visible but read-only in Composer HE, so at least there is no major mystery and HE users can see the information so as not to be confused.  Its best done with Connections because then the keypad button LED can easily track scene active/inactive status without doing any additional programming work.

As far as the scenes themselves, they can be created/edited in Composer HE under Agents -> Advanced Lighting agent.  They can also be created/edited right from within the Control4 mobile app under Lighting->Scenes (and that will then impact what the buttons do, if they are linked to the scene that you are editing)

A big agree with this.  As an end user it is so frustrating to want to program your keypads but not know what is done with Connections.

There is a little bit of control on the home side if you wish to remove a binding from a button. Changing the button behavior can remove the connection. Be careful with this though as you will not be able to rebind it once its removed its gone until a pro user rebinds it. Also if the scenes are bound and you just want to change the scene you can even do that in The control4 app now.

@chopedogg88 I am a ComposerHE user so I ask my dealer to print out a complete system report as a PDF.  This PDF is searchable (to facilitate tracing programming) and shows bindings.
