Anyone have creative uses for Coax now that it isn't used for TV?

Anyone have interesting uses for coax now that most TV services are going to IPTV which uses ethernet or wifi to distribute TV - or cable is dropped completely in favor of streaming services?  If you had an ATSC modulator could you use the coax to distribute video?  Or use it to send audio back to your rack from a local room or send audio from the rack to an amp in a room? Or use MOCA to add a LAN drop?

Using it send digital audio back, especially with more hybrid/reverse distribution is fairly common.

Done MoCa in a handful of cases but most of the time there's plenty of CAT (if we did the wiring)

Also used it for IR to free up a CAT for other purposes.

 

Note, we haven't actively pulled coax to TV location in years - but electricians all too often still do.

Use it to pull fiber or UTP in its place…..  hopefully you can.

I have one room in my house that has no attic space, and I would either have to run conduit on the outside wall or damage a lot of drywall to run Cat6. Instead, I used the existing cable coax and MOCA, and it works perfectly.

I’m going to send IR over coax to two TVs on a takeover project we’re finishing next week.
