Is that because Google makes it hard to directly interface with AndroidTV? Can this be used with multiple AndroidTV devices. I installed the Zank Remote app on my television and phone and it worked. I then installed one of the drivers I thought might work, Chromecast with Google TV. The driver found my television and It controlled curser movements but power on or off did nothing. I don't see on or off power listed in the documentation but they are in Composer. So it was not designed to control all of the TV functionality, the main additions required would be power and input switching. For Roku there was a different driver for Roku boxes vs Roku TVs. It'll control the underlying android and functions OK (provided you can access the store app or side load) but the functions for most 'cable TV' functions aren't in android - so there's no guide, channel up down numerical button links etc. (Note that I'm talking about PROVIDER custom app devices, not things like Sling etc apps that should work fine as they're designed not to use those specific commands to begin with) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Whilst I didn't write the driver (Alan did), the biggest advantage of the app I assume would be that we abstract the protocol we use for communication away from the device. So it's less likely the driver will break on Google upgrades. It's a lot easier to update the app on the media player device than the Control4 hardware, and it makes it easier to provide a variety of protocols you can use.
