dlouque
What is the best way to use a motion to turn on a patio light using a timer? Also, I would like to reset the timer when it detects motion while the light is on. thanks.Daniel
ILoveC4
This is really straightforward if using a Card Access motion detector. You don't even need a timer, just adjust the occupancy time.
dlouque
It is not a Card Access motion. It is hooked to my security system and is working fine. I just need to know how to program it.
ILoveC4
So create your timer...that's step one. Then program so when the motion detector senses motion it turns on the light, and RESETS the timer...that's step two. Then program the timers expiring to turn off the light. You may want to do some things like stop the timer if the light is turned off, but not really necessary.
dlouque
Do I turn light on when motion and start timer and reset timer? That is my confusing part. I have tried a few different ways and it turns light on on motion no problem, i am having problems getting the timer to reset when it detects motion again before the timer expires, it blinks off then back on. I am doing something wrong. Do you have any sample in your own programming? Thanks for you patience.Daniel
ILoveC4
Just reset it, don't start and reset. Resetting the timer resets to the default time, and starts it if it is stopped. I use Card Access motion detectors, so I go about this differently, in the fashion I suggested in my first post. Otherwise, I could show you screenshots. If I get some time I could do it in virtual director I guess...
