Rob21
I wish the driver would allow for dual control (IR and IP) so that voice can work over IP and other control can work over IR. That would ensure that the worst that could happen when IP drops out would be a loss of voice control. Edit: without the need for two drivers chopedogg88
chopedogg88
that would be awesome, especially if it could fallback to IR only when it detects that the IP connection is broken.

That's a pretty cool idea. A hybrid driver.
C4 User
I’ve had a very stable IP connection on ATV for a few years at least. Occasionally the ATV needs to be rebooted and I put a button on my T4 so wife can easily reboot if I’m not home. But haven’t had to reboot in year. Its been almost week since I updated ATV to ios18 and it’s still working. If IP connection is unstable, I would focus on your network. If it helps, my ATV is connected via Ethernet. A hybrid driver. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. Many devices (not just Apple TV) would benefit from a hybrid driver. An easy way to make a system more reliable. Any chance we can get the right people involved to see if this could become a reality?

I can assure you this one isn't network. Our ATVs on ios17 were super stable. Never lost a connection for a year (?). ios18 hits and boom. Doesn't look like we are alone, either. penn65000
DesertTech25
I have been reading through the posts on this topic of my remotes losing the ability to control my Apple TV’s. I am just an end user and my integrator already came out and determined I needed to go into the Control 4 app on my iPhone and reset the integration with HomeKit. Well, the remotes lose their connection to HomeKit multiple times a day. All AppleTV’s and my iPhone are on v18, respectively. I have 14 hubs (6 Apple TV’s, 8 HomePod’s) and 2 bridges (EA1 controller with 3.3.1 firmware, 1 Phillips Hue). All the Apple devices are up to date. My integrator says it’s an Apple HomeKit issue. What I don’t want to do is have to unplug all every single device. I also don’t like having to reconnect my remotes to HomeKit every time. Every device, including the remotes have static IP’s. Any thoughts from the pro’s?
South Africa C4 user
There is an open issue with TVOS 18 - very frustrating and hopefully it will be resolved soon… BY96
GregCAMS
interesting. Switched mine off of C4 and over to Josh via IP and on tvOS for 2 weeks. zero issues. Keeping a Seura connected via Global Cache on IR with a dedicated AppleTV also on tvOS with zero issues as well as Sony projector on IR without out any disconnection. Rob21
Josh uses an “unofficial” Apple TV control method that is similar to what the third party C4 IP driver uses. While this integration method is technically “unofficial” it does seem to be more stable. The downside is that it does not allow for voice pass through to the Apple TV like you can do with the C4 driver, but it does allow for some form of deep linking with apps so there it’s a decent trade off. GregCAMS
have only used voice for non-AV items other than to turn them on or off the Apple TV source to a specific streaming app. I do have scenes setup in their NLP to turn specific shows and or YouTube Channels on throughout the week.
