anyone familiar with bPentair driver (author bNet)?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has familiarity with BNet's bPentair driver for the Pentair IntelliFlow pool elements?

I am considering getting this driver and would like to know if the IntelliCenter is required or if the driver can directly communicate with the Pentair pump via the serial connection (after RS232 conversion).

thank you

To add to this, I am not aware of any driver that talks directly to the various Pentair pumps. AFAIK, every Pentair driver currently “available” require one of IntelliCenter, IntelliTouch or EasyTouch.  And frankly, I wouldn’t use any of the Pentair drivers out there other than the 2 mentioned in my previous post.

@mackwabir  Thank you.  Yes, I have reviewed the documentation.  What I am confused about is what Pentair system component do I connect to the RS232 converter?  The bPentair documentation simply states connect to "Pentair".  A model number or part of the Pentair unit would be very helpful.

thank you for your response.

It goes to the intellitouch RS232 connector where all the other serial stuff connects like the pump, heater, and intellichem. It works great, much cheaper interface with way more options and monitoring on things like control4 panels.

@Olichops  Yes, you are correct.  The piece you have presented is a converter from Pentair's native RS485 to Control4's native RS232.  The question is to what Pentair element does the RS485 portion of the converter connect, please?

you probably need: Pentair Intellitouch ScreenLogic2 Interface Kit and Wireless Kit.

If so really think before buying one. they are expensive and may not last long (I had 2). I needed up   doing the upgrade to intellicenter which solved a lot of problems - mostly with he cost of remotes and connections to C4,

Yes, You do need the Pentair Interface kit that also is in line from the Intellitouch->interface kit-> Dtech adapter->C4. It is all wired and an ethernet connection to the interface kit so you can control it from your phone or PC.

No, you don’t need the ScreenLogic Interface Kit.  Although it doesn’t hurt to have it…
