Android API itself just doesn't have any defaults for channel selection, guide buttons etc as I understand it, nor do any providers publish their API for their own apps. As stated earlier in the thread, the existing ones likely just work, worst case you'll just have to make a basic IR driver and/or learn the codes in from the remote. Should be 15 minutes or less.
