msgreenf
Was looking at device variables and I was trying to see if there was a variable which would reflect what app is selected and streaming on the TV. Every time YouTube is running I want to program a push alert. I don’t care if it was started via c4 or the native Samsung remote. Trying to keep the kids off YouTube

msgreenf
Not the route I want to go because I want to be able to watch YouTube on the TV! That's why I just want a notification for now

Cyknight
The problem is that there is no clear trigger to start from. You can catch a BIT of it by going room variable, video device selected changed, but it won't really catch a change between youtube being selected if another app is selected first (say netflix) as the 'video device' in both cases is the actual TV ... so there is no trigger happening. And obviously it doesn't do anything when doing it from the TV menu. Theoretically you could have a permanent timer running and every time timer expires you can check the 'current app' variable and program, but not ideal to do so. msgreenf
No programming for current app and no device variable for current app on my frame TV…
msgreenf
I may have found a creative way around it!

Samsung TV's have parental locks on apps. You could lock the TV apps and use a player that has more options.
Neo1738
I was thinking maybe different accounts for the TV or something. Hassle to change in case you forget etc.
