Know that I LOVE my movie collection, and still intend to get my server up and running again (or rebuilt from scratch if I can't salvage it), but dedicated hardware media players are all disappearing one after the other: I'm not sure even k-scape can hang on for many more years (and the cost means you better get many years out of it). I am not sure, but there may be one driver that is available through C4 and one from Zidoo. Looks like there were red flags as far back as March but they said all was well and it was just a "brand" issue and the hardware and everything else would continue to be find. Guess it wasn't. Really wish K-Scape would allow local media to be added to their system. Plex has always been a great alternative and very flexible with platforms... unfortunately, it needs a bit more hands-on than the kscape's of the world. We have noticed increases in our Android TV driver sale. As such i would assume that the reasoning behind this is that the market is trending towards streaming servers rather than storage. As such our energy will shift towards market demand. Even myself at home. I had been using an HTPC with MadVR, but when I bought a Lumagen, I decided the hassle of using an HTPC (especially with C4) was not worth it, hence the Zappiti. Unfortunately we cannot. If you want to control a TV or projector that does not have a driver you can go down the CEC route using the HDANYWHERE uControl Zone Processor 5 hardware with our driver. The ODROID N2+ w/2gigRam has been rock solid. Highly recommend with Alan's Kodi lite Driver. As fiber becomes more ubiquitous, and enterprise data transfer and storage costs decline, we'll see streaming services increase their bitrates to match or exceed what's capable with UHD Blu Rays. If you are rich, sure go with Kscape. The price doesnt matter and if they are gone in a few years so what. But if this is a luxury item for you and you are hoping to get many years out of a system as well as being able to use your movie purchases on other platforms, I would be very hesitant. It would be one thing if they supported Movies Anywhere and many of your store purchases would stay with you if they went under but thats not the case. Back when the system allowed you to rip your existing Blurays it was also less of a worry. You still had your collection. GregCAMS Posted October 6, 2023 Share Posted October 6, 2023 Definitely not rich but just saved up weekly for a few months to get the initial Strato S and then slowly upgraded from there. Before then had the original CinemaOne before the 1 day KScape went out of business and restarted. The content is owned so never lost it. There are integrators much more familiar than me on this topic but definitely prefer the stability, performance, reliability, and service with Kaleidescape.
