c44me
Anyone have products or recommendations for securing a large cabinet in garage that has been vandalized? So far looking at: wifi cam and thinking about door/contact sensor(s) with wifi notification. having hard time finding any with decent reviews and connectivity. Thanks! Power? Zigbee? Residential building garage with storage units up against concrete wall. Gets spotty but usable wifi. Plastic unit (might be upgraded to wood or metal after this). Padlock insert was ripped off with lock attached. There is power to the wall but both outlets being used by battery tenders (could obviously split for more power) but wireless/battery would be easiest. Traps and potential physical harm is usually off limits for property protection. Does the garage have a door? Is it being closed? A cabinet that's in an open, accessible area is not going to be easily secured. At some point, they'll just pull the cabinet off the wall. RAV
Most things you do there will just alert you to the smash and grab sooner. You need to make it harder for them. Take longer. Attract attention, if you're in a location where that even matters. RyanE and c44me

RyanE It does, and unfortunately this last time they used a crowbar, or similar to pry back the metal plate covering the walk-in door lock next to the garage door. The cabinet itself is not attached to the wall. You'd have to be pretty strong to walk off with it Looking at using contact sensors (window/door type for $20 with 120db siren). Coupled with IP cam mounted down facing the cabinets and cars etc. Any better idea(s) ?
RyanE
Upgraded locks, strikes, door protection etc. would be a first step, keep them out long enough that you could respond. Obvious web-enabled off-site recording Camera on outside of garage, with an obvious sign, and two-way audio would be my second step. If you could get notified and tell them the police are on the way before they get in, it may deter them. Security panel in the garage itself, with door sensors, motion sensors that you arm when away, etc., with siren, and remote notification on alarm. Moot point if you aren't close enough to respond when it's being hit... RyanE Neo1738
RAV
Ring alarm base in house, sensors in garage if close enough. Cheap, self monitor. If there's glass on the door, position the sensor so they can see it on the inside through the window. Make it obvious, so if the same crooks come back, they'll see it's probably not worth it anymore.

No glass these are garage cabinets so need to mount them inside the doors. Went with some cheap $12 for 4 pack, with 120db sirens from Amazon for time being paired with LaView wireless webcam, which can give notifications when it sees a human. That way you only enable/disable the alarm for cabinets when you need to. RyanE

Khemiicalz
I think its easier to get a better box. Something that is a deterrent itself. I live in Los Angeles, and the crime rate here is through the roof. Its a well known that police are not responding to burglary/ theft unless someone is actively being hurt. This gives the low lives enough courage to set off alarms and continue with the crime.
