some keypad dimmers have solid green lights after rebooting the main network switch

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,
First time poster in this wonderful forum, I have already learned quite a bit.  I am a home owner, not a dealer.  I have recently moved into a home with a pretty comprehensive C4 system, running version 2.10.6.

We have three keypad dimmers which are not working, they have solid green lights on them since Sunday late afternoon.  The background context - I rebooted the network switch late afternoon Sunday( and router and cable modem ) and since that event, several dimmers are not responding properly, two in particular which I explain below more thoroughly.  I was a bit surprised that rebooting the switch would have a negative effect because I thought that all of the EA1's and CA-1s have direct power supplied via power cord, and not being fed POE via the switch.

In terms of the dimmers - one of the keypads in the hallway was reset/rebooted using the 13-4-13 button combo and it now works like it did before - which is great news.  My daughter's bathroom keypad is not responding to the reboot nor to the identify command - when the identify command is given, that sequence will flash yellow lights quickly followed by red lights flashing even quicker, then back to solid green.  Several months ago, this same keypad became non-responsive( after an EA1 was powered down ), but I was able to reset it back to the network using the same reboot sequence.  The media room keypad is half working post reboot.  The top two buttons both turn on the back side of the room, the bottom buttons are still green and do nothing.  All of the lights in question operate normally using the C4 app, just not at the keypad, which to me implies that there is a conflict with the keypad itself.  I attached pics because I'm not sure what precise equipment it is.

What should I be considering to help get the dimmers back online ?  I'm not sure if it is relevant but this system has 5 EA-1s in the main living spaces, 2 CA-1s in the attic, and 1 EA-5 in the main mechanical room rack.

13 - 4 - 13 is the sequence to drop from the Zigbee network.
15 taps to top is for reboot.

Sounds like you'll need a dealer to re-id them with you.

CA1s can be (often are) powered through POE. The keypads in question may be on one of the CA1s mesh, and the CA1 rebooting or lack of it reconnecting is the root cause.
The lights flashing when trying to ID is indicative of it looking for a controller to ID to and not finding it, likely because Composer is needed to tell which controller to activate for additions and none are listening.

very interesting to know that the CA1s are usually POE.  Too bad it couldn't self heal.

What could explain why the media room lights are partially working, if they keypad connected to the mesh, shouldn't the whole keypad return to its configuration?

Not sure. Once reset, all the buttons should control the wired load, not just the top two.
