TundraSonic
Seemingly stupid question but... Currently this door and its e-lock are listed in the garage on our system. It seems to me that this s/b in the interior room - the mud room. Similar to the door in the mudroom that goes outside. Thoughts? Is there a reason it s/b in the garage? Thanks. msgreenf
but you can show anything in more then 1 room. Technically doors connect rooms, so it would make sense to show them in 2 rooms eggzlot and TundraSonic 1
eggzlot
Or to make less rooms why not combine the mud room and garage into one room? I am assuming you do not have audio/video in these rooms, likely just doors/locks, sensors, and lights. Really could be 1 room if you want to be super efficient and already have too many rooms. BraydonH
I vote Mud Room. But why not put it in both TundraSonic
TundraSonic
Thanks all. They are quite separate spaces and we also have audio in each so I think we'll keep them separate. Have you guys run in to confusion when things are listed in multiple rooms?

Have you guys run in to confusion when things are listed in multiple rooms? shouldn't be confusion if the lock/door is labeled mud room entry door. I have 3 doors/entries into my house (Front, basement and patio) and we have them listed in ALL rooms. in case we want to know if we left something unlocked we don't want to go into the c4 app, then pick a room. I just want the app to load and open up that room that first pops up and check the door locks. If I had 20 doors with locks it may be different, but with only 3, it fits into each room. Each room may have 2-5 sensors max, so adding 3 doors does not really bog down the UI in my opinion.

Conversely (there is no right answer), I prefer a catch-all room called "Whole House" where I put the things like door locks and garage doors that I want to be able to see at a glance all at once. zaphod
I was hoping for a religious debate here, like the debate between spaces or tabs for commenting code, or the debate over the Oxford comma.

Cyknight
Certain items like locks and sensors I actually have exposed in all rooms. They're clearly named, and this allows for no need to change rooms/switch between room/all to check or control them. Actually do the same with the fireplaces - quick check to see if the one in the basement is off. Oh and Tabs. And oxford comma isn't a debate, it's a fact that news-articles can't wrap their head around msgreenf

TundraSonic
Most editors I work with tend to dislike any comma not clearly needed for clarity. Of course, the editor, from whom the bulk of my income comes from, hasn't seen the comma, she didn't like.

zaphod
Why is the Oxford comma a heated debate: https://www.grammarly.com/blog/oxford-comma-debate/ There was a great scene in Silicon Valley where the protagonist dumped his girlfriend because she used spaces rather than tabs for commenting code: OceanDad
