UK Motion Sensor

Recommended Posts

Odd question here, is there such thing as a motion sensor that works with Control4 and can be used as an on off switch? It’s for a porch and would be great if you could set it to motion sense but also override as an on/off switch too.

you can do this with any motion sensors that can integrate with Control4.  But there is no single motion sensor + light switch in a single 1 gang package

I’m located in the UK and would be happy to help you with this. My favourite are the NYCE motion sensors they are small and discrete and they look good too as appose to looking like an alarm pir

By all means PM and I’ll assist you with this

Thanks

The circuit doesn’t currently have a switch so I suppose I would need to use a sensor and then C4 puck if I want to manually turn on/off?

I’m guessing the switch for the light is inside your house. You can use a single load keypad (these come in switched and dimmable versions). Then you’d add the sensor to operate the light on motion

No, there is no switch just a motion sensor which has gone faulty. I didn’t know if there was a single unit which would control the load and connect to C4. Instead it sounds like I need to replace the ceiling PIR and also fit a puck in parallel. That way I can turn the lights on and off with the puck and the motion sensor will always override if necessary.

Assuming the motion sensor is your normal security sensor then I would go with a hard wired PIR if possible as you won't need to change batteries.  Since you've already got the cabling there then connecting the replacement motion sensor (if it actually has gone faulty) to a Control4 input (on the back of a controlller, io extender, etc) or Control4 compatible security system.

If however its one of those motion sensing lights then as @mujtaba.khokhar mentions putting in puck with a nyce sensor will work.
