ILoveC4
I need to buy some thermostats - not super interested in anything fancy, just something with tight integration and that will work well/reliably. I've got a pretty standard setup with variable speed furnaces and central A/C units. In my current home I have NEST thermostats. They look cool and work fine, but I don't use any of their supposed smart learning for optimization or anything. I just have the furnace set to heat at 69 and cool at 74 every day when I'm home, and when I activate away mode it heats at 60 and cools at 80. I activate away mode via programming, so I imagine I could accomplish this with any thermostat. All that said, what is the cool thermostat these days? Should I just go with the new Control4 ones? I appreciate the wisdom of the crowd here.
koxkp
I have an ecobee. It integrates well and the newer ones look even more slick with Alexa / Spotify built in.

eggzlot
I use the C4 ones with remote sensors in the wall to get the local temp readings. The c4 thermostats sit in my basement. I have the older models, going on ~5 years, knock on wood no issues

The older C4 therms were butt ugly, but the temp sensors have proven to be very reliable.
