kdouglas24
Still not sure if this is a Control4 issue but I have an Anthem MRX 720 integrated into a system with the correct driver. I have it set to a static IP address. Every so often, the anthem receiver will completely lock up and nothing will work. Physically pressing the power button on the front of it won't even do anything. I have the latest firmware installed on the receiver and it is still doing the same thing. I end up having to power cycle it through the customers mybakpak site on the PE09. When it power cycles, a loud pop comes out of the speakers and it startles the customer. I suppose the next thing I could try to test if it's a network issue would be to try controlling it through RS-232, but I've had issues with that before. I seem to be having a lot of bad luck with Anthem receivers in general. They sound terrific but the issues they are having are almost making it not worth the hassle of installing them. From input issues, power issues, and locking up, they seem to be quite a nuisance. Does anyone else have issues with them in their Control4 systems? Jeffrey
I have an Anthem MRX 520 receiver. I called their tech support and they said it is better to use RS-232 with C4 integration. They gave me a list of reasons why it's better than IP control that I don't remember. I have not had one issue since January with it. neil12011
If at all possible, and usually is, I always go with an RS-232 connection with receivers, no matter how robust the manufacturer, Control4, or other dealers say their IP control is or isn't. Serial is usually bulletproof.
AllessioV
I have an MRX 720. It sounds great “WHEN IT IS WORKING”. I have had the “Power Fail” safety kick in on 4 separate occasions, each time requiring me to send the unit in for repairs. This is no doubt a chronic issue related to poorly designed power distribution and improper grounding. How is Anthem getting away with this? Is there a fix for this chronic issue? AllessioV
Can someone please help me figure out this MRX 720 issue? I have gotten this “Power Fail” mode now for the 4th time and the unit is again UNUSABLE! HELP!!
alanchow
Why are you posting on a Control4 forum about an Anthem problem? Here is a link to the Anthem customer contact forum. You should reach out to them for support https://www.anthemav.com/support/contact-us.php
BXTR
Dozens integrated, vast majority by rs232 the rest IR I’ve seen the problem you’re having and you likely have a defective unit x40 series with IP is rock solid with Alan’s driver
