Yankee18
Hello there, I'm replacing my 2nd gen Apple tv for the current version and a Sony Blu ray that I've had for a while now with a more modern one. My question is, do I just replace the units and everything will work like a charm or do I have to do some sort of configuration to get them going? Any comments will be appreciated.Keep in mind that the new units are the same brand just newer versions
SY3
If your current ATV is using IR, then it should work the same since the ATV2 and ATV3 use the same IR commands. For the Sony Blu Ray player, you'll have to see if the different models use the same driver. If its in the same family like a S580 and you're upgrading to a S590, the same driver should work. Some Sony models can use an IP driver so that might change how you setup your new devices. If you want to sell your ATV2, there are plenty of people here that would be interested including myself. Cyknight
Sony's BluRay IR codes have remained the same across all models - if it's using an IP driver it might be a different matter. Only thing you might be missing is new commands (ie 4k upscaling, shortcuts to netflix etc)
