Problem identifying iPhone 5 myhome APP on 1.7.4 controller

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Currently on 1.7.4

Have 2 iphone/ipad myhome licenses working fine, one with the latest myhome v 2.5.0 running on the iPad and the second running on an old iPhone 3GS with myHome 2.2.2

Recently bought an iPhone 5 and asked my dealer to deauthenticate the old iPhone 3GS and tried to authenticate on my new iPhone 5, running the latest 2.5.0 app - No success!

He then asked me to remove the new app, and sync with iTunes in order to copy the old version 2.2.2 of the app, that runs smoothly on the 3GS - that didnt work either

Does that mean that I will need to upgrade my entire Control4 system to have the iPhone 5 work with it??

You don't need to upgrade anything nor your dealer to do this. I just got 2 new iPhone 5 and a new iPad. Just log into your my.control4.com account and make the changes there. Just be sure to on your wifi when you do it. I'm on 1.7.4 and was using the license on my old iPhone 4s.

I'm using 2.5 on all my devices. If you have individual licenses, log into your account and click on "Mobile Devices" on the top. Uncheck the old device to free up the license. Then, install the app on your new device and enter your main controller's ip address, your my.control.com email address, and then connect.

How are you adding the device? What error messages are you getting?

Hi

When I GO into the subscriptions tab, I see 2 licenses: 1 iPad navigator and 1 iPhone navigator, both with a "never" expiration date

But when I go in the mobile Device tab, I only see the iPad device and it is enabled, which is right, as I am using it right now

How do I get the iPhone license there?

That doesn't make sense since if your old iPhone was using 2.2, it should show enabled under "Mobile Devices". That's how mine works. I'm not a dealer so you might want to check with yours.

When you go to connect from your iPhone, does it give you any error messages?

Not unless you have Composer Pro. If you know that you had the driver, get your dealer to remove it. Shouldn't take long. I don't have the driver on my project so you shouldn't need it anymore with the new app.

hi all

my dealer has deleted the old driver, but the iphone does not appear under Mobile devices

I have updated to the latest APP version on both iphones (3GS and 5) and after entering my email address and password I receive the following message

Hi all

mystery now has come into place!! let me try to explain what happened

I had the iphone 3GS working with app v2.2.2. I then asked my dealer to disconnect and remove the driver and I went ahead and updated the APP to the latest 2.5.0. Once I first ran the app it automatically connected to my system, without me even typing in my email and password, as if it had pulled the info from some cache... I then started controlling it without any issues, but still the iPhone would never appear under Mobile Devices on my.control4. My iPad has always worked on the latest version of the APP and it has always shown under mobile devices.

Since I wanted use my new iPhone 5 instead, on my iPhone 3GS in the APP I went into Systems, selected my controller, then Edit and pressed DELETE. Then I tried reconnecting entering my email and password and I was never able to connect again, with that error message that I attached on my previous message

Here comes the really odd part!!

I installed the app on my iPhone5 and ualla, it connected automatically (of course I was on the same wifi network as the controller) to my system, the same way it did before when I had updated the app on the iPhone 3GS. And I am currently connected to the system with my iPhone5, BUT it is still not showing up under Mobile devices on my.control4.

I am pretty sure that if I delete the controller in the app and try to reconnect, it will ask for my email and password and I will get the error message again, not being able to connect anymore.

One other thing I just noticed comparing my ipad and iphone is that under SYSTEMS, I get a slightly different information on the ipad and iphone, for instance in the ipad, LICENSES IN USE shows 2 of 2 and on the iPhone, it shows LEGACY LICENSE. I will attach both print screens here

Odd, but glad it's working. I suspect that if you delete the system it would allow you to connect - but hey why mess with a good thing.

Somehow it got id'd in the system using the old method (and yes I've seen oddities like this on occasion on 1.7 and 1.8 with the new app) - that's probably why it shows legacy under the app, and why it won't show under devices on my.control4.

HI, unfortunately I'm pretty sure that if I delete the system, I wont be able to connect again

I did a simple test, just like I have done in my iPad, by adding a new system, using the public IP address instead of my local LAN IP address, in order to connect via my celular phone and it gave me that same message stating that I need a license - in my iPad I have 2 systems added without any problem and like I have said, it shows up under Mobile Devices, different from the iPhone License.

this is a mystery that someone will need to unveil...
