msgreenf
Hey Guys,I bought a vizio soundbar and I am trying to use it with my tv and have c4 control the volume. I learned the IR codes but when I test them I can't get them to work. I know the IR sensor is in the correct spot. Any ideas? Anyone have a working driver? Anyone have a working driver?Purchased one - my dealer could not get it to work - he had a BOSE soundbar that he was given at half price and let me have it for that - it is incredible sound and works a treat - we had to give up on the VIZIO.Bill
pharmdsmith
I programmed one 3 days ago. We just learned vol up/down and mute. Put them in a generic receiver and bound the rooms volume control to that receiver. Then bound the ir port to the receiver.

pharmdsmith
Did you bind the tvs optical out to a receiver optical input? His sound bar had 2 inputs so we also learned the code for the input he was using and put it in for the input we used on the receiver. msgreenf
we just modded the tv driver and learned the codes as alternate codes...still did not work
pharmdsmith
Do you have a split ir going to the tv and soundbar or is it from 2 different ports? Edited February 19, 2012 by pharmdsmith
msgreenf
Do you have a split ir going to the tv and soundbar or is it from 2 different ports?Split IR. The IR is lighting but the soundbar isn't recognizing the codes.
pharmdsmith
I'm guessing you moved the ir around while issuing volume commands to try and find the sweet spot? Is it a pre made ir splitter or one that was made onsite?
msgreenf
IR split was made on site. I can't find the sweet spot. I tried with a flashlight and I am pretty sure I am in the right spot. It is a Vizio VHT215 and the only thing Vizio can tell me is use remote code 31517 or 1517 which really mean nothing, as far as I know, in the c4 world... pharmdsmith
Try using just a single ir for testing to rule out your ir split.
msgreenf
I can try that..the IR split is working for the tv..which makes it interesting
msgreenf
just tried that single ir cable and it still doesnt give me volume control. I see it send commands but the Vizio isnt accepting them. Is there anyway to take a universal remote code and program that into c4?
msgreenf
Problem was finding the it sensor. Had to remove the grill but it's working great now.
nascent
I hate finding IR sensors. Even when you find it and secure it, the client's kid or something else happens to move it 1/8" and control is done. The days when everything is IP controlled and POE can't come fast enough. srthomas21
Hi All,Have this same sound bar having same issues. Can someone tell me what exactly they did to get it to work? I can't find the sweet spot and can't get my grill off. Afraid that I might break it without knowing exactly how it comes off
msgreenf
you have to get the grill off as the sensor has to go below the grill and right over the sensor...
cmcoolmac
Hey where exactly did you find the sensor on the VHT215? I took the grill off and I see a square with a dark circular object about an 1/8th inch in diameter. Is that it? or is it near the LED display? Thanks in advance for your help. Time2Jet
@msgreenf I found this old thread and figured as good a place as any. I'm using the Annex IP driver and have had zero luck controlling the volume of the optical connected soundbar. Should I give up? If so, I’ll be dumping this Vizio and replacing with a Samsung. I guess I might have pissed away money on the Annex4 driver. I wish I would have waited until I had the Vizio on the network to test it. istreich
Does the Annex 4 Vizio SmartCast driver allow the control of a Vizio soundbar connected to a Vizio TV (via eARC HDMI)? Or maybe the TV does it automatically as the C4 remote controls TV volume. The Annex4 driver is working fine to control the TV right now (via wireless SDDP as no ethernet/IR available) but I am adding a new Vizio soundbar and want to make sure I won't have to use its remote control. Thanks.
